Creating & Managing Your Oppies
An “Oppy” is your AI employee — a fully configured AI agent with its own phone number, email, personality, knowledge, and communication capabilities. Internally, we call these channels. This guide covers everything about setting up and managing them.
Creating a New Oppy
Method 1: Setup Wizard (Recommended for Beginners)
Click “Create Your First Oppy” on the dashboard. The wizard walks you through:
-
Profile Setup
-
Name (e.g., “Jasper with Acme Co”)
-
Avatar (AI-generated headshots — refresh for more options, filter by gender)
-
Role title (Sales Assistant, Lead Qualifier, Receptionist, etc.)
-
-
Describe the Role
-
Write what you want in plain language
-
The AI generates a professional prompt from your description
-
Example: “Qualify leads from our database. Get them to convert to scheduling demos. Two groups: individual loan officers and team leads who want corporate licenses.”
-
-
Knowledge Base
-
Paste your website URL — the system crawls it automatically
-
Add additional URLs for specific pages
-
Upload documents (PDF, TXT, CSV)
-
-
Voice Selection
-
Preview voices by clicking each name
-
Male options: Gavin, Leo, Brandon
-
Female options: Linda, Jacqueline, Mary (default), Daniela (Spanish), Lori (Australian)
-
You can also clone a real person’s voice
-
-
Phone Number
-
Search by area code (e.g., 858 for San Diego)
-
Select and purchase — it’s available for voice calls immediately
-
SMS requires A2P 10DLC provisioning (1-2 weeks)
-
Method 2: Account Concierge (Power User)
Open the floating concierge and describe what you want:
“Create an Oppy called Josh AI that handles webinar follow-up for Example Mortgage Academy. Go learn about yourcompany.com and create a prompt for qualifying loan officers.”
The concierge will:
-
Crawl the website
-
Generate a comprehensive prompt
-
Create the Oppy with appropriate settings
-
Set up email and prepare for phone provisioning
Method 3: Clone an Existing Oppy
If you have an Oppy that works well, you can use its configuration as a starting point for a new one. Ask the concierge: “Create a new Oppy based on Jasper’s prompt but for our corporate sales team.”
The Prompt (System Message)
The Oppy Editor (All Tabs)
When you click into an Oppy at app.oppy.pro, you’ll see these tabs:
| Tab | What It Controls |
| Prompt | The system message/instructions — the most important tab |
| Profile | Name, description, personality, avatar |
| Follow-Up | Automated follow-up settings (enable, schedule, limits) |
| Managers | Admin emails/phones that get notifications |
| Voice | Voice selection, provider, and custom voice cloning |
| Email settings, BCC, fallback addresses, signature | |
| Share | Public URL, QR codes, embed code, starter prompts |
Oppy List View Modes
The main Oppies page supports multiple view modes (toggle in top-right):
-
Grid — Cards showing avatar, name, and key stats
-
List — Compact table view
-
Compact — Minimal list
-
Slider — Horizontal carousel
The prompt is the single most important thing about your Oppy. It’s a plain-text document — think of it as a job description + SOP + FAQ all in one.
What Goes in a Prompt
A well-structured prompt typically includes:
Identity & Context
You are Jasper, an AI sales assistant for Example Mortgage Academy.
Example Mortgage Academy is an AI-powered operating system for mortgage originators.
Goals
Your primary goal is to qualify inbound leads and book demos with the sales team.
Qualification Criteria
A lead is qualified when you know:
- Their role (individual LO vs team lead)
- Team size (if applicable)
- Current pain points
- Timeline for making a decision
Booking Rules
For individuals: Share Cindy's Calendly link [URL]
For team leads/corporate: Share Dan's Schedule One link [URL]
Do NOT use the built-in calendar — use these external links instead.
Guardrails
NEVER promise to create or deliver any materials (postcards, presentations, etc.)
NEVER discuss specific pricing — direct them to the platform
If unsure about something, say you'll find out and loop in the team
Needs Attention Triggers
Set conversation to needs_attention and email cindy@company.com when:
- Lead is qualified and wants to proceed
- Someone asks about enterprise/corporate pricing
- Any legal, compliance, or escalation request
Source-Based Behavior
If the contact's source is "Kelley Blue Book", introduce yourself as
a Kelley Blue Book partner rather than using the Example Homes Group name.
Editing the Prompt
Direct Edit: Click on the prompt text in your Oppy’s settings to edit it directly. Changes take effect immediately — no restart needed.
Via Account Concierge: Tell the concierge what to change in natural language. It will update the prompt and show you the diff.
Via Phone/Email: If you’ve whitelisted your phone number or email as an admin, you can call or email your Oppy and tell it to update its own prompt.
Phone Configuration
Getting a Phone Number
During setup, search by area code and select a number. Voice calls work immediately. SMS requires provisioning.
SMS Provisioning (A2P 10DLC)
To send text messages, your business must be verified. This involves:
-
Business name and EIN — entered during setup
-
Use case selection — Customer care, appointment reminders, etc.
-
Privacy policy — Must be on your website homepage with SMS language
-
Consent checkboxes — Lead capture forms should have separate SMS consent
-
Processing time — Typically 1-2 weeks, sometimes 2-3 days
Important compliance notes:
-
Privacy policy MUST be accessible from your homepage
-
SMS consent should be a separate checkbox (not bundled with terms)
-
Include standard TCPA/CTIA language in your privacy policy
-
We’ll send you the required SMS policy language to add
Using Our Number Temporarily
If you have an urgent campaign before provisioning completes, we can temporarily assign a number from our account and port it to yours later.
Email Configuration
Every Oppy gets an email address at @open.oppy.pro:
-
Format:
{name}@open.oppy.pro(e.g.,jasper@open.oppy.pro) -
Auto-generated from the Oppy’s name
-
Can be customized in settings
Email Signatures
-
AI-generated signatures with the Oppy’s headshot
-
Dark mode and light mode templates available
-
Fully customizable HTML
-
Ask the concierge: “Clean up Jasper’s email signature and use the dark mode template”
Custom Domain Email
You can eventually use your own domain (e.g., jasper@yourcompany.com) by setting up DNS records. This requires:
-
Access to your domain’s DNS settings (Cloudflare, etc.)
-
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration
-
Contact us for the specific records to add
Voice Configuration
Selecting a Voice
In the Oppy settings, choose from preset voices or clone a custom one:
-
Preset voices: Mary (default female), Linda, Jacqueline, Daniela (Spanish), Lori (Australian), Brandon (male), Gavin, Leo
-
Custom clone: Upload voice samples to create a clone of a real person
-
Provider: Cartesia (default, best for real-time) or ElevenLabs
Voice on Calls
The AI uses a two-part system:
-
Brain: The main AI that decides what to say (GPT 5.4)
-
Mouth: The voice AI that speaks in real-time (Cartesia)
-
The brain is smarter but slower; the mouth can keep talking while the brain thinks
-
Background sounds (keyboard typing, subtle throat clearing) make it feel more natural
Pronunciation
-
Written forms use exact spelling (e.g., “EPIC Estates”)
-
Voice calls use phonetic pronunciation (e.g., “epic”)
-
You can add pronunciation guides in the prompt for unusual names
Share & Distribution
The Power of the Embed Widget (Example Scenarios)
Example Realty Group: Embedded on their website with starter prompts like “Tell me about active adult communities” and “I’m interested in a specific neighborhood.” These show as floating chips that visitors can tap without typing. The Oppy had strong website chat engagement just from website chat.
Example Realty: Built a demo landing page with a form that, when submitted, sends the form data as a message to the Oppy. The Oppy then reads the submitted info, goes to the person’s website, creates a brand kit with colors and logos, and displays it back — all without anyone touching the dashboard.
Example Digital Agency (Reseller): Plans to embed Oppies on hundreds of client websites. Each client gets their own Oppy via API, with customized prompts and colors matching their brand. The embed code is the same for all pages — just different embedKey per client.
Oppy.pro (Our Own Website): our website Oppy, our 3-year-old Oppy, lives on our landing page. Buttons like “Chat with Charlie” or “Schedule a Demo” each send a specific pre-filled message. our website Oppy qualifies visitors, books demos on Alex’s calendar, and handles individual agent inquiries by directing them to a waitlist.
Live Page
Every Oppy has a public chat page at a unique URL. Share this link anywhere:
-
Social media posts
-
Email campaigns
-
Partner referrals
QR Codes
Two types available in Share settings:
-
Web Chat QR — Opens the live chat page when scanned
-
SMS QR — Pre-fills a text message to the Oppy’s phone number
QR codes download as PNG images. Use them on:
-
Business cards and print marketing
-
Trade show booths and table tents
-
Presentation slides (put on every slide!)
-
Flyers, brochures, postcards
Pro tip: Put the QR code on your final slide at presentations. Even with just a brief display, you can get immediate conversations started while you’re still on stage.
Embed Widget
Copy the JavaScript embed code and paste it into your website’s HTML:
<!-- Paste before </body> -->
<script type="text/javascript">
var embedKey = 'your-unique-key';
// ... (full code provided in Share settings)
</script>
The widget appears as a floating chat icon in the bottom-right corner of your site.
Contextual Buttons
Add buttons to specific pages that send contextual messages:
<button onclick="updateChatWindow('I want info about 123 Main St')">
Ask About This Property
</button>
When clicked, this opens the chat and sends that message — so the Oppy immediately knows what the visitor is looking at.
Starter Prompts
Configure 2-3 starter prompts that appear as clickable chips above the chat:
-
“Tell me about your services”
-
“I want to schedule a demo”
-
“I need support with my account”
These reduce friction — visitors don’t have to think of what to type.
Manager Configuration
Managers are the humans who get notified when something important happens:
Adding Managers
In the Oppy settings, add email addresses and phone numbers for people who should be notified when:
-
A lead is qualified (needs_attention status)
-
Something goes wrong
-
The AI needs human help
Slack Integration
Add a Slack channel’s email address as a manager. Notifications will post to that channel automatically.
Smart Routing in the Prompt
You can override the default manager list from within the prompt:
If the lead is in California, email west-team@company.com
If the lead is corporate/enterprise, email dan@company.com
For individual inquiries, email cindy@company.com
Delivery State
Control whether your Oppy actively sends messages:
| State | Behavior |
| Play | Messages are actively delivered (default) |
| Pause | Messages queue up but don’t send — useful for reviewing before going live |
| Stop | No messages sent at all |
You can set this at the Oppy level (affects all conversations) or per-conversation.
Version History
Industry-Specific Setup Tips
Real Estate Brokerages
-
Niche testing: One team chose an active adult community niche specifically to test edge cases — retirement areas, golf courses, specific neighborhoods. The Oppy handled it well even with minimal training.
-
Listing pages: Add contextual buttons on listing detail pages:
updateChatWindow('Tell me about the home at 123 Main St listed for $750K') -
Source tracking: Tag conversations from different lead sources (major listing portals, listing sites, Facebook) to measure which generates the most engagement.
Mortgage Companies
-
API integration: If you have mortgage calculator APIs, the Oppy can call them during conversations to compare loan products in real time.
-
Compliance first: Always include recorded line disclosure on outbound calls. Work with your legal team on jurisdiction-specific requirements.
-
Two audiences: If you sell to both consumers and loan officers, consider separate Oppies with different prompts and phone numbers.
SaaS/Technology Companies
-
Support + sales triage: Use one Oppy to handle both, with the prompt detecting intent and routing accordingly.
-
Knowledge base from help docs: Crawl your help center (e.g., their help desk platform, Zendesk) so the Oppy can answer support questions directly.
-
Enterprise detection: Trigger
needs_attentionearly for brokerage/enterprise inquiries — don’t let the AI try to close enterprise deals.
Membership/Subscription Organizations
-
Benefits knowledge base: Crawl your benefits pages so the Oppy can answer detailed questions about what members get.
-
Onboarding Oppies: Create an Oppy specifically for new member onboarding that walks them through setup.
-
Guardrails on promises: Never let the Oppy promise specific deliverables — always refer to “what’s available through the platform.”
Every change to your Oppy’s prompt is tracked:
-
View the full history of changes
-
See exactly what was modified in each version
-
Restore to any previous version if needed
-
Ask the concierge: “Show me Jasper’s prompt history” or “Restore Jasper’s prompt to the version from last Tuesday”
