QR Code Types: When to Use Which
| Scenario | Use Web Chat QR | Use SMS QR |
|---|---|---|
| Trade show booth | Good | Best (captures phone number) |
| Business card | Good | Best |
| Presentation slides | Good | Best |
| Print flyer/postcard | Good | Best |
| Digital ad | Best (clickable link) | N/A |
| Email signature | Best (clickable link) | N/A |
| Social media post | Best (clickable link) | N/A |
| Restaurant/retail signage | Good | Best |
| Vehicle wrap | Good | Best |
| Webinar screen | Either works | Best (pre-fill event context) |
Rule of thumb: Use SMS QR whenever you want to capture phone numbers. Use Web Chat QR when the interaction is purely digital.
SMS QR: Pre-Filled Message Strategy
The pre-filled message is what appears in the person’s texting app when they scan the QR. They just hit Send. This message:
- Tells the Oppy where the person came from (event, page, campaign)
- Sets the context for the conversation (what they’re interested in)
- Captures their phone number automatically (by them texting in)
Setting It Up
app.oppy.pro → Your Oppy → Share tab → QR Code section → Type your pre-filled message → Download QR

Campaign-Specific QR Codes
Create different pre-filled messages for different campaigns. Each QR code can have a unique initial message so you can track which campaign generated the lead.
Campaign A (Facebook ad):
Hi! I saw your Facebook ad about [Offer]. Tell me more.
Campaign B (Google ad):
Hi! I found you through Google while searching for [Service]. Can you help?
Campaign C (Partner referral):

The Oppy Prompt Should Handle Each Source
In your prompt, add instructions for each message pattern:
SOURCE DETECTION:
- If first message mentions "booth" or event name → they're from a trade show.
Acknowledge the event, ask what caught their interest.
- If first message mentions "webinar" or "blueprint" → they're from a webinar.
Share the blueprint link immediately, then qualify.
- If first message mentions "Facebook" → they're from an ad campaign.
Reference the specific offer in the ad.
- If first message mentions "referred by" → they're a referral.
Acknowledge the referral, give priority treatment.
- If first message mentions a specific property address → they're from a For Sale sign.
Look up the property and discuss it immediately.
Physical QR Code Placement Tips
Size & Readability
- Minimum size: 1 inch x 1 inch (2.5cm) for close scanning
- Recommended: 2 inches x 2 inches for signs, cards
- Large format: 4+ inches for booth banners, signage
- Always test your QR code by scanning it from the expected distance
Design Best Practices
- High contrast — Dark QR on light background (or vice versa)
- Quiet zone — Leave white space around the QR code (at least 4 modules)
- Call to action — Always add text near the QR: “Scan to chat” or “Text us”
- Instruction text — “Scan with your phone camera” for less tech-savvy audiences
Where NOT to Put QR Codes
- Surfaces that bend or crinkle (can distort the pattern)
- Very glossy surfaces (glare makes scanning hard)
- Moving objects at viewing distance (can’t hold camera steady)
- Below eye level on the ground (awkward scanning angle)
Sharing the Live Chat Page
Social Media Posts
Share your Oppy’s live page URL with context:
LinkedIn:
We just launched an AI assistant for [Company]. Ask it anything about our services — it can answer questions, schedule demos, and connect you with our team. Chat here: [URL]
Twitter/X:
Meet [Oppy Name] — our AI that handles [what it does]. Try chatting: [URL]
Instagram (link in bio):
Link in bio to chat with our AI assistant [Oppy Name]. Ask about [services], get [resource], or schedule a call.
Email Signatures
Add the live page link or phone number to your email signature:
[Your Name]
[Title] | [Company]
Chat with [Oppy Name]: [Live Page URL]
Or text: [Phone Number]
Partner Sharing
Give partners a dedicated QR code or link with a referral-tagged message:
Hi [Oppy name]! I was referred by [Partner]. I’m looking for [service].
Measuring Sharing Performance
By Source
Tag conversations in your prompt based on the initial message:
When the first message mentions specific keywords, tag the conversation:
- "booth" or "conference" → tag: event-lead
- "webinar" → tag: webinar-lead
- "Facebook" → tag: facebook-lead
- "referred" → tag: referral-lead
- Contains a property address → tag: sign-lead
Then filter conversations by tag at app.oppy.pro to see which channels perform best.
Ask the Concierge
“Show me all conversations from the last 30 days grouped by source tag. Which channel generated the most qualified leads?”
